The intention of The Economics of Transition Series is to encourage discussion on the economic theory and policy of transition and European economic integration. For more than 20 years, the Wiener Institut für Internationale Wirtschaftsvergleiche (WIIW) has facilitated academic dialogue on economic theory and policy in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. WIIW also assembles comparable statistics for the transition economies and monitors their economic performance.
