Open Access Books
Submitting a proposal
Our team of Commissioning Editors will be delighted to receive a proposal for an Open Access publication (Authored and Edited Monographs), and all Open Access books are subject to the same peer review selection and publication process as conventional titles. As with a conventional book, the starting point for commissioning an Open Access book is for the author or editor to submit a detailed proposal to the relevant Commissioning Editor.
Production
The publication process and production timeframe for an Open Access book is the same as a conventional book. Once your manuscript has entered production, a dedicated project manager based in our UK office will oversee the production process including manuscript copyediting, typesetting and proofreading inclusive of the BPC fee. We do not off-shore production, with the entire process taking place in the UK. Upon publication, the Open Access version of your book will be hosted on Elgaronline.
Marketing and promotion
Your Open Access book will receive the same level of marketing and promotion enjoyed by all of our books including submission to journals for review, international direct marketing, online promotion and conference exhibitions. The book will clearly be marked as Open Access in all of our marketing material, on the company website and on Elgaronline. Read more about our Marketing
Dissemination
We host the Open Access book or journal file for free download and deposit the web address in the Crossref DOI repository allowing citation linking to the work. Our Open Access books are made freely available on Elgaronline and we work with libraries to ensure they are included in their catalogues and are discoverable by researchers. Online discovery is facilitated through inclusion in the Database of Open Access Books (DOAB), Google Books and Google Scholar. Authors may upload the file to an institutional repository or a discipline-based repository or archive, citing the published version. We will provide Authors with a full PDF of the book so they can self-archive OA books in their University’s repository and add to personal websites.
Preservation
As well as dissemination through multiple eBook channels the Open Access book or journal article will be archived with Portico to ensure future preservation and access.
